AT Tip: Brushing Teeth

A great way to explore the Alexander Technique is by bringing certain thoughts into your daily activities. 

Brushing your teeth, for example, offers a perfect opportunity. When most people brush their teeth that have the tendency to lean or hunch over - while standing, let the thought arise of your head gently releasing upward, as if free to float, while your weight flows naturally into your feet. 

Imagine balance originating at your ankles, with the thought of effortless, subtle motion—like a palm tree swaying lightly in a breeze. With these thoughts, you may begin to notice how much less effort is required and become more aware of habitual tension, all without taking extra time from your day.
